Just found out you’re expecting and unsure how to tell those closest to you? You’re not alone; many women wonder about this. In this post, we’ll explore different ways you can share the news and what to consider along the way.

What Should I Consider First?

Your safety is the most essential item to consider first. Do I feel comfortable telling my boyfriend and my family about my pregnancy? Will they make me feel pressured or unsafe?

If you’re unsure, it’s okay not to share that news with them until you can safely do so. We encourage you to find the support you can feel comfortable with, where you’ll know you will be cared for and safe.

If you’re unsure where you can go, we welcome you to our center, where you will be provided with a safe place to share your news and receive the help you need to tell those around you safely.

Ways To Share The News

Once you feel ready, you can share the news of your pregnancy with anyone you are comfortable with in any way that’s special to you.

Some women choose a card with the pregnancy test inside; others prefer to sit down and seriously discuss the topic if they feel nervous or unsure.

Sometimes it’s best to think about how you best communicate with those around you. Doing whatever makes you feel most relaxed is important. Writing it down or even texting it is okay. As long as you know you’ll be supported, however you share the news will be just right for you.

We are here for you if you need someone to share this news with and to help you understand your options. We can assist you in finding the clarity you need and be a welcoming, safe environment where you can feel cared for.
